Geographically, Cancun’s Hotel Zone is an island, 14 miles long and 3/4 of a mile wide. The hotel zone is connected to the mainland by two bridges, bordered on one side by the Caribbean and the other side by the Nichupte Lagoon.

Francisco spent his childhood with his family in Queretaro. He began studying higher education in the field of architecture. In his job history he has worked at a transportation company, he has managed a retail business, and he has worked as a tutor at Ingles Individual (a private school specialized in teaching English).
Francisco was selected by Disney World to be part of an international leadership program conducted in Orlando, Florida. While working at the Epcot Center in the Mexican Pavilion, he took courses and gained hands-on leadership and management skills. Afterward, he joined IVI DMC2 and worked with us for 5 years until he made a career move to become a hotelier with Grupo Posadas.
Now Francisco has returned to IVI as a Corporate Marketing & Product Development Director. His job entails developing memorable events. He is familiar with every great hotel and restaurant in Cancun, Cozumel, Riviera Maya, and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. He may know Cancun area’s attractions better than anyone because he has visited practically all of them. Francisco is a camping nut and loves being in the wild. He has camped in the desert, at the beach, in the jungle, and in the forest.
When he is not camping, Francisco’s leisure activities include playing basketball, attending live concerts, or enjoying a round of golf. And Francisco undoubtedly is the only member of the IVI team who has the hobby of collecting beer bottles from all over the world. Francisco’s beer collection now consists of 300 bottles.
Local Attraction – Xel-ha is his must! Just the perfect place to relax and feel like on vacation, every single time.
Recreational Activity – Visiting the Peña de Bernal, the tallest monolith on the planet, part of Sierra Gorda in the center part of Mexico, just outside Queretaro, is Francisco´s favorite adventure. He has climbed to the top and camped in the cradle of it.
Restaurant – Francisco tends to enjoy local flavours, such as El Oasis and El Principio, two hidden jewels in downtown Cancun.
Local Event – Festival de Vida y Muerte at Xcaret is Francisco´s favorite. During a 4-day period in November, Xcaret opens its doors at night to celebrate the Day of the Death.
Marketing, Business & Planning Director
Raquel Mijares arrived to Cancun with her family when she was only a year old. Hence, she has witnessed Cancun’s development firsthand. She has been in contact with the tourism industry all her life. Raquel studied Hotel Management at Anahuac University in Cancun. She has worked at renowned Hotel chains like Sol Melia and Grupo Posadas. Over the years Raquel strengthened her planning and organization skills.
She joined IVI DMC2 team in November 2007 as a Program Executive in the Planning and Events Department. Her continued growth since 2007 is notable. Raquel is known for giving her all to offer great quality service to all of our clients.
Raquel enjoys hanging out at the beache, watching a good film, and listening to all kinds of music. She is committed to the company, her co-workers, clients, and friends. You certainly can rely on her to MAKE YOU LOOK GREAT!
Local Attraction – I love the Sea Passion Catamaran cruises. Their big catamarans sail to the best snorkeling spots!
Recreational Activity - I may have been a mermaid in a previous life because I really love swimming and snorkeling.
Restaurant - Cenacolo has outstanding Italian food. They make their own pasta, they have an exceptional wine cellar, and it’s located in one of the best shopping malls in the Cancun hotel zone.
Local Tour - Xel-Ha is a water wonderland. The surroundings are beautiful and if you enjoy being on and in the water, this is the place.
Local Event – The annual Day of the Dead festival at Xcaret is a fantastic celebration of this unique Mexican tradition. It is celebrated from November 30 to December 2.
Hilder PALMA was born in Tabasco, Mexico. He moved to Cancun in 1986 and he took his first steps in the tourism industry working for Intermar Caribe as a Sales Representative, Tour Conductor. He also worked for Lomas Travel in charge of FITs (Frequent Individual Traveler).
He joined IVI DMC² 13 years ago as Junior Operations Coordinator. He was later promoted as Senior Coordinator, Senior Supervisor, and Senior Manager in the same area. Hilder was trained by one of the company’s old-timers, Mr. Joaquin ROSADO, who helped him qualify to become our Operations Director, the position that Hilder presently holds and that he performs with great skill and impeccable leadership.
Hilder has been married for 21 years. He likes being on top of the latest international news and economy trends; he loves cars, Formula 1 events, and traveling to see new places.
Local Attraction – I definitely enjoy the Emotions tour by Alltournative! It’s fun to ride ATVs, swim in a cenote, and practice thrilling zip lining. At the end of the day’s tour, they serve delicious Yucatecan food, a delight to my palate!
Recreational Activity – A weekend trip to the island of Isla Mujeres is so relaxing. I recommend Playa Norte (The Northern tip) for its calm waters that resemble an infinity pool and its white sandy beaches.
Restaurant – I love Puerto Madero steakhouse. Argentinean cuisine is the specialty. They serve lots of fresh seafood and prime steaks grilled to your specifications. I enjoy accompanying my fine cut with a nice glass of red wine while admiring a bedazzling sunset on the Nichupte lagoon.
Local Event – The International Beer Fest in Puerto Morelos. Beer tasting is fun since you can sample beers from the world over. This event is becoming more and more popular each year thus attracting lots of visitors.
Mariana was born in San Luis Potosi. She has a graduate degree in Hotel Trade and Tourism and is a Certified Meeting Specialist (CMS). Excellent customer service and attention to detail define her. She began her professional career in 2005 working for Princess Cruises. Her experience in incentive travel comes from working for the Fiesta Americana Condesa Hotel in Cancun, in the sales department, where she performed as wedding, group, and convention planner; during eight successful years, she planned more than 70 weddings, 360 business meetings, 100 groups and conventions, and fam trips, among others. The curriculum she built up in this hotel includes numerous positive reviews by clients testifying to her commitment and professionalism.
She joined IVI DMC² in 2014 as a business executive, a position that she describes as a new undertaking in her career. In 2015, due to her dedication and being goal oriented, she was appointed as Business Manager. In her new position, she proudly continues displaying her top priorities: Excellent customer service and attention to detail, qualities that enable her to establish, develop, and strengthen successful relationships with clients.
Local Attraction - Rio Secreto as it is difficult to find a natural setting that compares to it. The spectacular formations found here are truly amazing. Xibalbá´s ("Xibalbá" - Mayan Underworld) is one of a kind.
Recreational Activity - Riding the ATVs through the Jungle is one of the best experiences I have ever had. Not only do I enjoy the adventure, but also the gorgeous natural surroundings.
Restaurant - Puerto Madero has the absolute best soufflé8 - potatoes ever!!! A classy restaurant and local favorite by many for its beautiful scenery and great service.
International Event - Formula 1 for the adrenaline, speed, excitement, and people... everything that’s needed for the best
event. It is an incredible experience no matter the sponsoring county.z<
